I feel like the moment I talk about a reading slump, I do the best reading! Why does it always work like that, lol?

With Black Fae Day approaching fast, and having just watched Sinners, the need for black fantasy and folklore has arisen within me. Magic & Melanin is where my reading has been!

I have recently done a re-read of Lore of the Wilds by Analeigh Sbrana (a 4th one so far), and I fall deeper in love with that book! If you have not read it yet, you definitely should, but here are some highlights of what you can expect:

• A cursed library that hosts secret magic

• Cottagecore aesthetics and a sense of whimsy and connections to nature

• Romance with the Fae. Because as frightening as they can be, the allure is there!

• Love triangle

• Found Family and the importance of where you come from

And so much that ties to blackness! This is further touched on in the second book Lore of the Tides.
